Steven Lloyd Bennett

CEO / Partner / Filmmaker

Steven Lloyd Bennett is an award-winning filmmaker born and raised in New Rochelle, NY. 'The City on the Sound' located on the outskirts of New York City. A son of Jamaican immigrants, his father a mechanic and his mother running a daycare business, Steven knows the value of hard work.

Steven is the founder of JusB Films. A film production company that has to date made seven short films, a multiple award winning web-series, and is in development on two feature films.

In 2020, Steven finished his short film, RUSS & DRU, which serves as a proof of concept for the feature film of the same name currently in development. The short has currently played at 9 festivals and counting.

In 2018, he wrote, produced and directed the short film BLANK CANVAS, where he directed a stellar cast lead by Chris Chalk of Fox’s Gotham, Ava Duvernay’s When They See Us, and Perry Mason. BLANK CANVAS, since January 2017, has screened at festivals nationwide. 

In 2016, his short film, RESERVATIONS FOR THREE was screened nationwide in over 25 festivals and was the recipient of four awards including Best Short Film at the Manhattan Film Festival. It is available to rent/purchase on Amazon.

In 2015, he worked with DeWanda Wise (Netflix’s She’s Gotta Have it, and the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion) on THE TRUTH OF MISS MARSHALL proof of concepts. Prior to that, his critically acclaimed web series PARALLELS, which he wrote, directed, and produced, garnered six awards in film festivals as well, including an Outstanding writing award from LA Web Fest.

In 2014, his short film, EMANCIPATION starring Michele Weaver of NBC’s Council of Dad’s was shown on American Black Film Festival’s weekly Television show ABFF Independent.

He is currently in development on his feature films, HAPPY SABBATH and RUSS & DRU, and a TV show THE BRIDGE partnering with David Ayer’s subsidiary company Evergreen Valley Productions. Steven has written eight feature films and counting.

Steven’s main focus as a filmmaker is to not only make raw, unique, character driven films, but to make films that “feel good to the mind and soul.” He wants to showcase the vast and varied black, minority and immigrant experience in a way that is unapologetic and hasn’t been seen on the screen before. 

Steven currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Shantelle and son Syair.

 
 

Alberto Lopez

Chief Operating Officer / Partner / Producer

Alberto Lopez is the Chief Operating Officer with a focus on Strategic Partnerships for JusB Films.  

Over 17 years’ experience and trusted counselor to many companies operating within emerging markets, Mr. Lopez is directly responsible for many start up’s Business Development, Strategic Planning and M&A initiatives.

With an emphasis on strategic partnership Mr. Lopez has implemented growth for various International Telecom and Media enterprises.

In addition, Mr. Lopez, is a member of an Executive Leadership team, and has directed strategic planning and business expansion projects, including:

·      Television network business restructure for scalability and operational efficiency.

·      Lead and acquired exclusive broadcast rights for the international editions of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”, MTV programs (Dora The Explorer) Sesame Street and FIFA exclusivity.

·      Acquiring funding and production for various Public Service Announcement and Commercials to further enhance awareness for clients.  

·      Strategic partnerships b/t Telecom and TV to offer triple play services.

·      Fiber TV to home strategic planning.

·      Guidance of complex negotiations between various media groups, various broadcast compliance officials in the US, UK.

·      Scaling TV start-ups from ground up, holding accountability for P&L management and strategically positioning start-ups for potential acquisition.

·      Humanitarian programs: The Bayat Foundation (international 501(c)3 non-profit): Established strategic partnership with The Starkey Hearing Foundation, Matter Group, Netherland Gov and other globally preeminent social development organizations. 

Mr. Lopez has been invited to speak at various conferences and Gala’s on topics such as Challenges of doing business in emerging countries, Technology/media advancement in emerging countries, integrating technology within humanitarian organizations and how social enterprises impact emerging countries.

Throughout the years, Mr. Lopez has learned the ins and outs of creating a project from scratch and forming partnerships for scalability and profitability. He’s bringing that knowledge to his clients at JusB Films

Prior to his affiliation with JusB Films. Mr. Lopez served as VP Strategic Partnerships of Bayat Group, he served as a senior paralegal advisor for Simpson Thatcher and Bartlett and advised on various M&A deals such as AOL/Time Warner, JP Morgan Chase. Prior to his legal expertise, Mr. Lopez served as a Marketing & Branding executive for RJ Reynolds Corporation.  

Mr. Lopez received his Criminal Justice B.S. degree from John Jay College, and a certification in Project Management from Boston University. His additional academic certifications include a telecoms/media MBA from the Telecoms Academy.
